Coming Soon: Data Vizualization Stories @ Data Think Lab

For my design internship at DataThinkLab we created promotional data viz stories to feature on their company LinkedIn. Because DataThinkLab is located in Paris, I created these data designs based on hotel data surrounding the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics.

As the countdown to the Olympics begins, Paris is about to become the epicenter of global excitement! With 10,000 athletes and over a million visitors headed to the City of Lights, it’s time to wonder: who will wander our charming streets, which hotels will they choose, and what lessons can we learn from past Olympics about turning dreams into reality? 🏅

🛏️ This summer, Paris is trading romantic strolls for business bookings, with room prices skyrocketing between 50% to 200%. Corporate wallets are handling the hike better than us ordinary mortals, it seems.

🌎 Tickets sales reveal that 63.5% of buyers are French, leaving 36.5% for our international friends. Most international visitors are coming from the US, UK, and Spain. Time for hotel staff to brush up on their English and Spanish to plant seeds for future returns! And the Olympic effect? It’s not just Paris that will shine. Tourists are expected to scatter to Marseilles, Nantes, Lille, and beyond to explore the rich French terroir—or maybe just to escape the Parisian crowds.

💭 Here’s the twist: is the Olympics a fleeting gold medal for revenue or a long-term win? London’s experience showed us that while luxury hotels basked in glory, others didn’t quite hit their mark. Revenue soared during the games but stumbled afterward. Will Parisian hoteliers see a lasting impact? Only time, and a bit of Parisian magic, will tell.
